NOTA_SHOPでは兵庫県丹波篠山市にて製作を行う、木工作家「福井守」の展覧会を行います。
素材である樹々は、山野を巡って自身で拾い集めたり、
旅先での収集や人から譲り受けるといった人の縁を伝って集めてきたものです。
福井守の作品に惹かれるところは、集めてきた樹々と丁寧に向き合い、
素材が本来持っている自然の「美しい」部分を掬い出し、そこに手を加えることによって、
より新たな「美しさ」を表現しているところにあると思います。
素材を集める「目」と感覚を生かす「手」から生み出される
それらの作品には忘れがちな自然と人間との関係性、モノを作る尊さなどを考えさせられます。
今回は新たな試みとして、NOTAで製作している陶塊を使った作品も用意して頂きます。
常に素材と寄り添い、対話しながら生み出される様々な作品が並びます。

At NOTA_SHOP, we will hold an exhibition of Mamoru Fukui, a wooden craft artist who works in Tambasasayama in Hyogo.
He corrects materials on a trip, fields, and mountains, sometimes taking over from people.
By facing such corrected woods, the artist scoops out the intrinsic beauty of them then expresses another beauty.
These works produced from his eyes and hands remind us of the relationship between nature and human beings, also preciousness of making things.
As a new attempt, he’ll prepare a work using a ceramic block made by NOTA for the exhibition.
Various works created with intimate conversations between materials and him will be displayed.

NOTA_SHOPでは大阪府堺市にて製作を行う、金属工芸作家「東亨」の展覧会を行います。
東亨の作品に惹かれるところは、素材や形、用途において、普段通り過ぎるような感覚を拾い上げて新たな価値を作りあげる点にあると思います。
氏の作品やモノを見る目はアートの言葉でいうところの「Found-Object」に近しいところがありますが、製作への姿勢や表現、作品たちは工藝的な要素もあり、そのハイブリッドな感覚に強い現代性感じます。

「狡猾な」「狡賢い」を示すCraftyという言葉が気になっている。
天気の良い日には河原へ出向き、ウィスキーを身体に流し込む。それから、拾った素材を車から引っ張り出して洗ったり、叩いたりと右往左往する。そうこうしていると狡猾な素材がこの身体を動かす日がある。そんな日は占めたものです。
拾った素材と制作する自分、どちらが狡猾なのか。

At NOTA_SHOP, we introduce Ryo Azuma, metal craft artist works in Sakai, Osaka.
In terms of materials, shapes, and usage, I’m attracted to Ryo Azuma’s works because he creates new value by picking up the sense usually we overlook.
His idea is close to “found-object” in words of art, however his works, attitude to production and expression have elements of craft too, I feel strong modernity in his such hybrid sense.

Recently I’m fascinated by the word, “crafty” which means sly and cunning.
When the weather is nice, I go to the riverside then drink some whiskey.
Pull materials out of my car, wash, and hit them, been busy with such movements.
Gradually, “crafty” materials start to manipulate my body. That is a good day.

Metal craft artist. Born in1988, Mie prefecture Japan.
He makes objects using urban drifting materials such as rusted iron, copperplate, and tin, collected on the street.
He calls these objects “tekkari”, that is slang for hardware and lights by the street vendor.

NOTA_SHOPでは国際的なフォトグラファーとして活躍しているデンマーク出身の写真家「Søren Solkær（ソーレン・ソーカー）」 のプライベートワークである「BLACK SUN PROJECT」と、同じくデンマークはコペンハーゲン発のアートマガジン「PLETHORA MAGAZINE（プレソラマガジン）」の展覧会を行います。
100万羽の渡り鳥たちが、群れをなし有機的に変化する様を捉えた「BLACK SUN PROJECT」。
ある時は幾何学的な模様に、そしてまたある時は群体が別の一つの大きな生物の様に見え、自然の世界の美しさや躍動感を感じる事ができます。
個と群。
それぞれが絶妙な距離感を取りながらも姿を変えていく様子は、まるで時間や生命や社会といった世界の根源的な仕組のようでもあります。
2013年からスタートした「PLETHORA MAGAZINE」は世界で限定1000部のアートマガジン。
発刊にあたって毎回テーマに沿った、貴重な記録的、学術的文書の図案や資料、グラフィック、アーティストの作品などを慎重に選定し、写真やアートワークの良さを最大限に活かすため、内容に合わせて異なる紙と印刷手順を踏み製作されています。また、サイズは全て70×50cmというポスターサイズで製作されており、既存の雑誌という枠に収めることができない完成度と美しさを持っています。
今回の展示では「Søren Solkær」の作品が掲載されている過去号を含む3号から8号までの「PLETHORA MAGAZINE」とオリジナルのアイテム達が並びます。

We at NOTA SHOP will present an exhibition focusing on Danish photographer Søren Solkær’s private project BLACK SUN and an art magazine named PLETHORA MAGAZINE also from Denmark.
In BLACK SUN PROJECT, Søren Solkær captures moments in starling murmuration, organically evolving shapes created by one million birds. At times they form geometric patterns and at others look like one large living thing in the sky. This project invites us to feel and find the aesthetic and sense of dynamism in nature.
Individuals and a Group
With individuals keeping a perfect distance from each other, the shape of the group undulates in perfect unison as if representing a fundamental structure of the world such as time, life, and society.
PLETHORA MAGAZINE is an art publication started in 2013 and each issue is limited to only 1000 copies in the world. Carefully curated quirky archive and academic materials, wondrous art works and graphics are stylishly incorporated in individually selected printing and paper for each work. With its 70×50cm poster format, extremely high quality and aesthetic, Plethora Magazine is unique and simply cannot be categorized among ordinary magazines.
In this exhibition, you can see and purchase the latest and past issues of PLETHORA MAGAZINE (issues 3-8 including issue 6 featuring Søren Solkær) and Plethora’s original products. We’re sure you’ll have a great time.

NOTA_SHOPでは、滋賀県は信楽で制作する古谷宣幸と古谷朱里の作品展を開催いたします。
今回は -冬のうつわ- というタイトルに合わせて、古谷宣幸さんには「和食器」を、
古谷朱里さんには「洋食器」を中心として制作して頂きました。
二人は性格も作るものも違うけれど、うつわを作る際に共通しているのは
「料理に対しての意識」です。
色や大きさ、形、口をつけやすいか、美味しそうに見えるかなど、
常に料理の事を考えながら制作されています。
決して、派手でわかりやすいようなモノではないけれど、
実直に作られた器は、気がつくと毎日使っているような心地の良い魅力があります。
また、今回は二人のうつわを使っての食事を楽しんでいただけるイベントも開催いたします。

Furutani Noriyuki / Akari Exhibition

We will hold an exhibition by Noriyuki and Akari Furutani, a couple who lives and works in Shigaraki.
We asked them making tableware for winter. Noriyuki Frututani made it for Japanese cuisine and Akari Furutani made Western tableware.
Each of them has different personality and taste of work. But their motivation for making dishes are common.
They always think of users. Is it easy to handle? enhances foods? How about the size, shape, and color?
Those are not catchy, gorgeous looking, however, you would recognize you choose their sincere dishes everyday unconsciously.
During the period, we also hold a food event using their dishes.

”ハンドライティングでデザインしている私は、机に座って紙を前に、いつもまだ見ぬかたちを探しています。
気持ちの良いかたち、とがったかたち、おおらかなかたち、美しいかたち。
彼らは、ゆっくりと線をひいているときにひょっこりと姿を表わします。
線を引きながら、こちらは静かに驚いて、感動して、その高揚感に胸を躍らせながら次の線を引きます。
そんな普段追い求めている、かたちの展覧会です。”

NOTA-SHOPでは、8月9日（木）より滋賀県栗東市で陶磁器を制作する松本治幸の作品展を開催いたします。
磁器土を使い、極限まで薄く作られる松本治幸の作品は羽の様に軽く、ミニマルなシェイプ、モノトーンのカラーに よって素材の力強さや物質の存在を浮き出させます。
穴窯で焼成されたオブジェ作品にも、窯の中で火があたり、薪の灰がかかった箇所が自然と膨れ上がるなど、素材が変化していく様子が現れています。
ガラスのような繊細さと焼物の力強さが同居した松本治幸の作品をどうぞご高覧ください。

We hold Haruyuki Matsumoto solo exhibition at NOTA_SHOP.
He works in Ritto city, Shiga prefecture in Japan.
Its minimum shape, monotone color and feather-like weight, such features of his works emphasize material itself and existence.
Some art pieces with unique textures were fired in “Anagama”, you can track the change of the material, a part where the fire reached and the other part swelled with wood ashes during the firing.
Please visit us to see his glass like delicate but dignified ceramic works.

陶器の産地、滋賀県信楽町に昨年オープンしたNOTA_SHOP。
作家の作品、古道具、プロダクト、アート、デザインと一つのジャンルにとらわれる事なく、様々な良いモノ、コトを発信していくギャラリー＆ショップ。
今回は京都の新しいカルチャーを常に発信し続けている、 マルチカルチャープラットフォーム【y gion】でのPOP-UPとなります。
陶器の制作も行うNOTA&designが【sour】とのコラボレーションで制作したタンブラーや、オリジナルプロダクト、作家達の作品などが並びます。

Exhibition “TAGAMI MASAKATSU”

I visited the exhibition, “TAGAMI MASAKATSU” at CURATOR’S CUBE in Nishishinbashi, Tokyo the other day.
I didn’t have any knowledge about the artist…was overwhelmed by the energy of his works.
The composition, the structure of colors, the brush strokes…
There were many different types of works, however, each piece has strength comes from his good taste.
Tagami Masakatsu is the painter.
He continues to paint over 40 years, the number of his works over 40,000.
His interest is only painting, there are no theme, style, intention, and inspiration.
He just keeps on moving his hand every day, only depicts images in his mind.
Those are the paintings that only made of his strong desire for painting.
On 8 of July, NOTA_Shop celebrates its one year anniversary.
It will be a great opportunity to reconsider what is the creativity through the exhibition.
This exhibition consists of abstract paintings mainly from the year 2007, showed at the exhibition in CURATOR’S CUBE.

“TAGAMI MASAKATSU”展

先日、東京にあるギャラリー「CURATOR’S CUBE（東京・西新橋）にて、「Masakatsu Tagami」展が開催されていた。
何の予備知識もなく作品を拝見したのだが、その作品の良さに圧倒された。
構図、色彩の構成、筆の勢いー。
作品群はバラエティに富みながらも、それぞれが圧倒的なセンスで作られ、一つの作品としての強度がしっかりとしている。
作者は田上允克。
聞けば、40年以上ひたすらに書き続け、その数は4万枚を超えているらしい。
描くことにしか興味がなく、作品にはテーマもスタイルも意図もインスピレーションの元さえもない。
毎日、手を動かし続け、自分の内から出てくるイメージをひたすら紙に落とし込む。
その作業は、純粋に“描きたい”という気持ちだけが残った力強い作品として現われている。
NOTA_SHOPは2018年7月8日にオープンして1年を迎えます。
その1周年にあたり、“モノを生み出す”という事を考えさせられる
素晴らしい展示内容となるはずです。
なお、本展はCURATOR’S CUBEにて開催された「Masakatsu Tagami」展から、抽象的な表現が多い2007年の作品を中心に構成しております。
田上氏の素晴らしい作品たちを是非、ご覧ください。

We will hold an exhibition of furniture, “Furniture Camp” by Landscape Products.
“Furniture Camp” is a pop-up shop consists of the original furniture by Landscape Products, the starting point of their creation.
Their carefully designed furniture for various lifestyles grows up together like a member of your family.
Also, original items, selected daily goods, and artworks will be displayed.

Reflected by pho culture in California, Vietnamese noodles restaurant “Pho 321 Noodle bar” at Sendagaya in Tokyo will be temporally opened in NOTA_SHOP on 28 and 29 April.
They offer “Bun”, sort of Vietnamese noodles will be specially served with local vegetables, also Vietnamese beer “333”.

Landscape Products
A creative design team led by Shinichiro Nakahara, founded in 1997. Rooted in good and old designs from 1940-60’s, they purpose to find new and original fabrication.
They produce and sell original furniture then opened “Play Mountain” in Jingumae (moved to Sendagaya later), an interior shop in December 2000. With their unique and contemporary feeling, they produce not only furniture, but also house, office, and shop, opened cafe “Tas Yard”, coffee stand “BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR COFFEE KIOSK”, and Vietnamese noodles restaurant “Pho 321 noodle bar”.

NOTA&design, making design works and producing ceramic products in Shigaraki, Shiga prefecture in Japan, where the production district of Shigaraki-Ware, opened a shop next to their studio.
The shop suggests artist’s work, design products, vintage items both in and out of Japan, “good things” from any place and any period.

吹き付け塗装の際に生まれる、塗料の積層。
一つ一つ表情の違う塗料の積層を丁寧に加工し、オリジナルのジュエリーパーツと組み合わせる事で、本来、廃棄されたであろう素材が新たな作品に生まれ変わっています。

その製作工程上、同じモノがないコンテンポラリーなジュエリーとなります。
_
また【SOU】以外にも、【ろくろ舎】が製作している定番の木を使った植木鉢「TIMBER POT」や生木を成形し、乾燥工程で形が変化したプリミティブな作品なども並びます。

We will hold an exhibition of a jewelry brand ‘SOU’, a new project by ’Rokuro-sha’ in Fukui, Japan.

Utilizing layers of paint by spray-painting which are usually junk to be wasted, they create contemporary jewelry piece combining with jewelry parts that originally made.
Because of its production process, the carefully made pieces have unique textures and each piece has a different expression.

Also, their regular item, wooden flowerpot ’TIMBER POT’, and a ‘primitive work’ that made of unseasoned wood then changed its shape in the drying process will be displayed.

時の流れとは時計の針のように
一定に進むものとは限りません。
_
地層のように積み重なった塗料の集積を
あえて、割り、砕き、自然に面を磨耗させることによって移ろいの中の一瞬が露わとなり
ただ、自然物のようにそこに存在しています。

吹き付け塗装の際に産まれる塗料の積層。
本来であれば、廃材として捨てられる運命にある、これらの素材ですが、 一皮削りだすことで、思いもよらない色彩の洪水が溢れだします。
_
意図して作り出すことが出来ず、一つとして同じものがない、これらの色の集積は、見る人、見る角度で無限の表情を見せてくれます。
_
SOU mean “layer” in Japanese,e.g,layers of paint by spray-painting,which are usually junk to be wasted. However,once those layers are scraped,unique, brilliantand unpredictable colors are amazingly flowing out. Each accumulation of the colors is authentic and different ,having infinite looks.
